Oh yes, the book was "Forever" by Judy Blume. My mom about killed me when she caught me with that one. She even marched me up to the library and yelled at the librarian for letting me check it out. I'm pretty sure I was 11.
She never said anything 3 years later when I got hooked on the VC Andrews books.

My little brother died on Monday. I'm having a hard time believing that it's true, that I'm never going to see him again. Because, really, my brother just turned 30 last month and I can't imagine the world without him. He's the most easy-going person I know and never has anything bad to say about anyone.
He had a massive stroke Monday morning and my mom called me from the hospital, screaming. I stayed with him all day. He was pronounced dead at 11:30pm Monday night, after the final tests came back with zero brain response. We were told it was a congenital malformation of some kind of blood vessels in the brain. The neurologists want both my sister and me to be CAT scanned, to make sure we don't have the same thing. My grandmother died when she was 51 of a massive stroke also.
Andrew was unresponsive all day and the doctors did tell us that he probably didn't have a lot of pain. My mom and I signed the paperwork for KODA (organ donation) shortly after the last CAT scans came back and the neurologist said that there was zero hope for recovery. We had him on life support until all family members could get to town (and also because of the organ donation aspect).
Please keep my family in your prayers, if you are the praying type. I am heartbroken over it all and can only hope that we made all the right decisions.
The obituary ran in today's paper and it will run tomorrow too. :(

Okay, for the heck of it, I'll answer the question. :)
The two poems that jump off the top of my head as being absolute favorites are:
"She Walks in Beauty" By Lord Byron
and
"The Lady of Shalott" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson

You're A People's History of the United States!
by Howard Zinn
After years of listening to other peoples' lies, you decided you've had enough. Now you're out to tell it like it is, with all the gory details and nothing left out. Instead of respecting leaders, you want to know what the common people have to offer. But this revolution still has a long way to go, and you're not against making a little profit while you wait. Honesty is your best policy.

You're Boston University!
A bit wealthy and privileged, you nonetheless appear to some to be a person of the public. After all, you spend a lot of time talking about the Commonwealth. You think it sounds like the common good, while others just find it pretentious. You love drawing lines with green pens. You were truly outraged when they considered tearing Fenway down. When people say your name fast, you sometimes think they are heckling you.

Got an email from our minor league team, since I have season tickets. I'm going to skip Thursdays game now, thanks to that email.
In it, they listed all of the promotions this week. You know, dollar Budweiser for 2 hours before the game and stuff like that. But then on Thursday, they're having "The Hairiest Back in Town" contest. And the photo was frightening:

Okay, this is a major offense, at least in my book. No man should be hairy like a gorilla and have back hair that begs to be combed. Man, that is so so so so gross. They said that there will be 3 finalists presented between innings and then the winner will be announced at the end of the game. That lucky/HAIRY guy will get a free back-hair removal procedure. Yikes. He will need it if he's that hairy. A gal could get lost in that hair or even lose a finger!
And that is one GREAT reason to skip the game. Nothing makes me want to lose my lunch more than seeing something like that.
Yikes!
At least the Oreo people will be there on Friday. Tonight they have $1 hot dogs and $1 Pepsi. Ugh. I prefer Coke, but have to drink Pepsi when I go to the games. Booooo.
But, after getting that email......that photo just kinda sticks in my head. If the new boyfriend is hairy like that on his back, I will cry. *laughs* Right before I spread Nair all over it! :)
Which makes me think......I can't wait to see you soon. :) I don't remember seeing tons of hair on your back.....but if it's popped up in the last couple of days, I will be grabbing a bottle or two of Nair to get rid of it. *wink*

I am currently uploading photos to the Sam's Club website, so I can order online. I went over to the damn club, but 2 of the 4 photo kiosks were broken and then the one I was using locked up after uploading maybe 30 of my 300+ photos. Ugh. I gave up and came home.
But I'm hoping to get these printed and pick them up soon!
So, my mail came today. I'd stopped all delivery while I was on vacation, so everything piled up and my mailman brought me the entire week's mail this morning. I had the BEST card ever from a certain someone and.....wow. :) Okay, it is one of the nicest cards I've ever gotten. *smile*
And it made my day. :)
I am trying to figure out what to wear to the baseball game tomorrow. The forecast says 91 degrees and sunny. Hhhhmmm. I have no idea what to wear, but I will definitely need the sunblock and a huge Coke. :) And a hat maybe too.
Ran by the library today, since I had a few messages on my answering machine from the notification system, informing me that I had books on reserve. Hooray! :) I guess I can read and also think about the outfit at the same time......multi-tasking. Woo hoo!
Also, trying to think of when I want to go back down to Disney World, since I have the travel vouchers now. Basically, we'll fly for free the next time and have to use the vouchers within the next year. Maybe Christmas? I LOVE that place at Christmas and New Year's. Or maybe spring break? I'll have to look into it soon and start booking. I, for one, know that things book up early down there and will make my reservations for dining and such well in advance. *grin*
Here's one of my pictures:
